Game Night: The Perfect At-Home Date
If you’re trying your best to come up with a unique date idea, why not revisit the past instead of coming up with something revolutionary? Something retro is an amazing way to blow her mind while simultaneously not coming up with your own idea. Hosting a game night at your place will bring her back to simpler times, and is a nice break from the usual hum-drum dates. Not only is it cost-effective, it’s ridiculously romantic and will keep her talking for ages.
Snacks
The best part about a game night is snacks. If you’re the cooking type, go ahead and whip up something nice for her. Cookies, chips and dip, and light sandwiches are always a good bet for game night, but you can also go all out and prepare dinner if you want to go that extra mile. If you aren’t too handy in the kitchen, don’t worry about it. Even though it’s a stay at home date, it doesn’t mean you have to prepare anything elaborative. Picking up some snack mix and frozen appetizers at the grocery store is just as good as anything else. Make sure you top it with some good drinks (tea, cider, hot cocoa, booze, whatever you want).
Which Games?
Plan out your game agenda beforehand, but don’t get too precise. Give her a range of options to choose from, and go from there. If you don’t have many board games (most people don’t these days), check your local thrift stores. Most have plenty of board games in stock for low prices, so it’s not a financial burden to stock up on quite a few before your date night. Go for things that are funny, like “Cranium” and “Mad Gab,” rather than childish games like “Candyland” and “Chutes & Ladders.” It’ll keep both of you more stimulated & amused and she’ll be more excited to be challenged intellectually. If board games just aren’t your thing, then go for a video game night. It’s easy to go that route instead. For a more board game-like experience, pick something like Mario Party. The characters actually move around a board, and do mini-games to get ahead of their opponents. For a more hands-on approach to gaming, choose something with an emphasis on fighting, like “Halo” or “Call of Duty.” This way you can either be on teams together or fight against each other – to the death. It’s riveting and bound to keep you entertained for hours.
While your friends are scrounging for fun date ideas, relax in the beauty of using old-school methods to woo your girl. Game nights are a great way to stay close to her while saving money and keeping you both engaged. If you want to make it dirtier, turn it into a stripping game where the loser removes an article of clothing each round. If you want to make it a drinking game, that’s simple too. Just make rules about shot numbers required for the losers, and you’re all set. Date night is a total win, no doubt about it.
